What Happens to Mark in Severance Season 2 Episode 6’s Ending? Explained

In a shocking Severance Season 2 Episode 6 ending, Mike Scout inches closer to reintegration, remaining focused on uncovering Gemma/Ms. Casey’s fate. He is also determined to avoid Petey’s tragic end. Further, a pivotal dinner scene between Burt, Irving, and Fields reveals tantalizing hints about Burt’s mysterious Lumon connections.

Mark’s collapse in the ending of Severance Season 2 Episode 6, explained

In Severance Season 2 Episode 6, both Outies and Innies of different characters make significant discoveries. Mark’s reintegration process is the highlight of the episode which he most likely survives.

At the cliffhanger end of episode 5, Mark (Adam Scott) saw Ms. Casey/Gemma in the white corridor telling him facts about himself. So, he describes his experience to Reghabi, narrating what he saw. Reghabi assures Mark that they are making progress.

A startled Mark replies, “This didn’t feel human; this felt like a nightmare.” As the episode progresses, Mark experiences more flashbacks. After an intimate time with Helly R, Mark’s nose starts bleeding, something that happened to Petey in Season 1.

He gets another in-and-out-of-place flashback, with Reghabi’s voice coming from the background. Cut to the next scene: we see Mark in his basement, trying to finish the reintegration procedure.

The reintegration process gets overwhelming, leaving Mark more confused. So, he storms out and goes to the local Chinese place. Helena Eagan meets Mark there which seemingly proves that she is keeping an eye on him. Mark’s fun banter with Helena without knowing her true intention proves two things. Helena is most likely genuinely attracted to Mark. And more importantly, she wants to see if she and Mark can build a connection outside the severed floor.

The Outie Mark innocently carries out the conversation until Helena drops Gemma’s name. It makes Mark realize that he has to know the full truth. He hurries back home to start the process again. Almost at the end of reintegration, Mark sees Helly R on the floor. He tries to snap back out and eventually falls down. The episode ends with Mark convulsing, leaving viewers confused about his fate. But, since Mark is the lead character of the show, he is most likely to survive.

What happens during Burt, Fields, and Irving’s dinner scene in Severance Season 2?

Irving, Fields, and Burt’s dinner scene in Severance S2 Episode 6 was creepier than viewers had anticipated. Burt and Irving form a close bond at the severed floor. But as an Outie, Burt is mysterious. While talking to Irving, Burt and Fields disclose the reason why Burt took the severance route. However, the logic behind the decision to get severed sounded weak, almost like a cover-up story.

Fields spilled out a piece of shocking information at the dinner table, telling Irving how Burt and his “Lumon Partner” met 20 years ago. Irving immediately replied that the severed office opened 12 years back. Burt agreed with Irving, implying Fields had too much to drink, so he was not making any sense. The scene makes it evident that Burt has ties with Lumon. In the next few episodes, fans expect to see Irving digging into Burt’s history.
