Clare Crawley Responds to Matt James & Rachael Kirkconnell Split

Has Clare Crawley subtly criticized Matt James following his split from Rachael Kirkconnell? Her latest social media posts have sparked speculation, as she seemingly referenced a past Bachelor who wasn’t serious about relationships. With pointed comments and a history of tension between them, fans are wondering if she’s calling out Matt James.

Let’s dive into Crawley’s latest remarks, her past with James, and how it all connects to his recent breakup with Rachael Kirkconnell.

What did Clare Crawley say about Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell?

Clare Crawley has seemingly reacted to Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell’s split through a series of Instagram Stories on January 29. Returning to social media after a two-week detox, the former Bachelorette referenced a past contestant she claimed was not serious about relationships. “Catching up on [social] news and smh at some of this stuff,” she wrote over an image of farm animals.

She continued, “Remember that one time I specifically asked producers to please not allow one specific guy on my season because I knew for a fact he was NOT looking for a serious relationship whatsoever and I didn’t want him to waste anyone’s time.” She concluded, “So, instead, they made him the next Bachelor.” (via People)

Crawley did not name anyone, but Matt James was cast as The Bachelor after her season. This led to speculation that her comments were about him. In April 2020, Crawley expressed doubts about James, posting, “If you are doing interviews and creating Cameo accounts before you are even on my season… you are in it for the wrong reasons… #dontwasteyourtime.” James later said he was using Cameo to fundraise for COVID-19 relief. Crawley then clarified that her post was not directed at a specific person.

Notably, Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell ended their relationship in January after four years together. Kirkconnell opened up about the split on the Call Her Daddy podcast recently, revealing they had been planning for a future together. “We talked about family and kids more than anything,” she stated. Not having that dream anymore “sucks more than anything,” she added.

Filming delays prevented Matt James from appearing on Crawley’s season, and producers later named him The Bachelor. In 2020, Tyler Cameron described this decision as James “dodging a bullet.”
