Selena Gomez‘s fans were left concerned after she was seen crying in a now-deleted clip about Donald Trump’s new deportation rules. While Gomez has been open about her Mexican roots, her video has stirred discussions on social media.
Selena Gomez apologizes and cries over new Trump deportation policies
Selena Gomez recently shocked her followers on Instagram after she posted a video in which she was crying. The singer-turned-actress reportedly seemed upset in the clip about the new deportation plans that were signed by Donald Trump soon after assuming office. She didn’t take a particular name in the video but was in tears and apologized (via Entertainment Weekly).
In the now-deleted video, Gomez said, “I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”
However, the “Hands to Myself” singer’s representatives have still not commented on whether her video was directed toward Trump and those who might get deported after he announced his deportation plans.
After deleting the video from her Instagram, Gomez posted another story on Instagram with a black backdrop and wrote, “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people.” This story was also later deleted by the singer.
Since Trump has assumed the role of the POTUS for the second time, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has conducted raids leading to the arrests of close to 1,000 people (via CNN). In his speech at his inauguration, Trump laid out his deportation plans and said, “We will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came.”
