A spokesperson for the Coca-Cola Company told Fox News Digital that the chairman and CEO James Quincey presented the bottle to the president-elect to honor a long-standing tradition. Additionally, the spokesperson noted that the gift marked the company’s contributions to the nation’s economy. The outlet reported that it reached out to the president-elect’s team for comment and has yet to receive a response.
Limited-edition Diet Coke gifted to Donald Trump
Coca-Cola announced that James Quincey met with Donald Trump days before his inauguration and gifted him a limited-edition Diet Coke bottle. The statement mentioned that the company has a “tradition of creating commemorative Coca-Cola bottles in celebration of U.S. presidential inaugurations.” The said tradition reportedly dates back to 2005.
The spokesperson further highlighted “Coca-Cola’s contributions” to the country as they generate “$58 billion in U.S. economic activity and support 860,000 jobs annually” with “60 bottling partners.” Lastly, the statement noted that Quincey’s meeting with Trump also shows the company’s “commitment to strengthening America’s economic future.”
In addition, Coca-Cola shared the news of these limited-edition Diet Coke bottles, commemorating Donald Trump, on its website. The statement introduced these “limited quantity of Diet Coke bottles commemorating the 47th President of the United States” but revealed that these “will not be available for sale.” Moreover, it revealed the plans to distribute these bottles “to the White House, as well as inauguration events.”
Trump’s historic win against Kamala Harris came in November. On Monday, he will be sworn in after Chief Justice John Roberts administers the oath of office. Furthermore, artists such as country singer Carrie Underwood, “Y.M.C.A.” hitmakers Village People, saxophonist Lee Greenwood, and opera singer Christopher Macchio will be performing at inaugural events.
