The MCU Spider-Man actor Tom Holland confirmed in October 2024 that he had joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s next feature. Since the project’s original announcement, the potential narrative of the movie has drawn a lot of speculation. However, as with any other directorial venture from Nolan, the plot is strictly kept under wraps. Holland confirmed as much during a recent interview, claiming that he didn’t know “anything.”
Tom Holland doesn’t ‘know anything’ about Christopher Nolan’s new movie’s plot
Holland explained during his appearance on The Dish podcast on Wednesday, December 18, that he didn’t know much about the plot of Christopher Nolan’s next movie even though he is part of its cast. However, he did reveal that the production was yet to begin on the project.
“It hasn’t started shooting,” Holland said. “To be perfectly honest with you, I don’t know anything about it. I’m super excited. Everything is very very hush hush. I met with [Nolan]. It was awesome. He kind of loosely pitched what it was. And I’m sure when he’s ready, he’ll announce what it is,” he elaborated.
Back in October, while confirming his inclusion in the cast in an interview with Good Morning America, Holland said it was “the phone call of a lifetime” and compared it to receiving a similar call for Spider-Man a decade earlier. He stated at the time that he was incredibly excited” and “obviously honored” for the opportunity, before adding, “That’s all I can say because, to be honest, that’s all I know.”
This will be Holland’s first collaboration with Nolan. The filmmaker’s previous movie, Oppenheimer (2023), won seven accolades at the 96th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor (Cillian Murphy). Matt Damon, who previously worked with Nolan on Interstellar (2014) and Oppenheimer, is also part of the cast of the upcoming project, alongside Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron.
Hathaway and Nolan worked together on The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and Interstellar, whereas Pattinson was part of the cast of Nolan’s 2020 movie Tenet. As with Holland, this will mark Zendaya, Nyong’o, and Theron’s first collaboration with Nolan.
Nolan himself penned the script. Its production is expected to begin in 2025. The yet untitled feature will premiere through Universal Pictures on IMAX and other theaters on July 17, 2026.
