Many are curious to know the reason behind Nico, portrayed by Gavin Leatherwood, leaving The Sex Lives of College Girls. The teen drama revolves around four young girls, navigating their sexual and personal lives while tackling hardships and experiencing joys in a college environment. In the series, Nico played a prominent role in Kimberley’s life. However, his departure after Season 1 had raised concerns.
Here’s a detailed article on what Nico left The Sex Lives of College Girls.
Here’s when and why Nico left The Sex Lives of College Girls
Gavin Leatherwood discontinued playing Nico after Season 1 as he wanted to pursue other projects. Initially, Nico dated Kimberley but cracks appear in their relationship when his cheating behavior surfaces.
He is revealed to have been cheating on his real girlfriend with Kimberley, which didn’t sit well with her. They eventually decided to end their short-lived relationship. After Season 1, Nico was nowhere to be seen as Leatherwood decided to quit the series.
In a conversation with the US Weekly, Leatherwood revealed that he is exiting the titular series as he plans to take on other projects. “It was such an incredible experience. I think Mindy is brilliant and the cast, everyone’s lovely. But with so many amazing opportunities out there, we want to keep spreading our wings and leading ourselves to other projects so that’s the move,” he shared.
Could Nico come back to College Girls?
Leatherwood is unlikely to return as Nico in The Sex Lives of College Girls.
Creator Justin Noble had shown disinterest previously in exploring Nico’s story in an interview with The Wrap. “[It’s an] all too real story that exists for people when they start dating in an environment like college,” he said. He further added that Kimberley “deserves better.”
Currently, TSLOCG is in its third season and Kimberley has moved on from her past relationship. She is now open to new love interests. So, there doesn’t seem to be a chance for Leatherwood to return.
