Jacob’s death in No Good Deed explained
Jacob died in Netflix’s No Good Deed after he was shot by Margo Starling.
Jacob’s death had been a looming mystery for much of the season. This was also tied to Paul and Lydia’s daughter Emily’s estrangement from the family. However, the full scope of Emily’s estrangement is not revealed until Episode 7. Here, viewers learn that Emily believes she killed her brother Jacob several years before the series’ events.
But the full story is explored in the subsequent episode. Flashbacks reveal that Jacob often stole luxurious items from the houses of the Morgan family’s neighbours and had been gifting them to Margo, with whom he had an age-inappropriate and illicit relationship.
However, Margo eventually rejected Jacob, which forced him to threaten to take back the stolen items and tell her husband JD of their affair. Margo coldly retorted that they had no relationship and in the present day told Lydia that Jacob merely had a one-sided “crush” on her.
Margo then went after Jacob with JD’s gun in her hand. They argued along the way, with Margo attempting to intimidate Jacob into silence about their affair. Jacob barged into his house. Meanwhile, Emily caught wind of what she thought was a burglary and confronted the burglar with a gun, unaware it was Jacob. A gun then went off.
Margo then saw Emily, who looked utterly devastated and guilty. Margo, who was revealed to have been the one that actually shot Jacob, then left the scene, deciding to let the Morgans handle the situation however they wished from there.
No Good Deed is currently streaming on Netflix.
