Wicked Movie Dolls With Adult Website Link Misprint Might Still Be Available at Certain Retailers

Mattel’s Wicked movie doll line recently went viral for a misprint that directed owners to an adult website. In response, the company released a statement that it is “taking immediate action to remedy this” leading many to believe the dolls are being recalled. In response, scalpers have listed the dolls at multiple times the MSRP. However, you might find retailers still carry them in stores, albeit less prominently than they were.

Wicked movie dolls with misprint may still be in stock locally

Though the Wicked movie dolls have been on store shelves for several weeks, they went viral over the weekend because of a mistake on the packaging. On the lower right of the back of each box, you can find “www.wicked.com.”

One would assume the URL leads to the official website for the movie, but that’s not the case. Instead, it takes you to a subscription porn service. When the dolls initially went viral, the Wicked homepage contained graphic sexual imagery. Fortunately, since then the site has changed its homepage to remove sexual content. Those who want to see the official website for the movie should head to “www.wickedmovie.com”

According to CNN, Mattel released the following statement about the labeling issue:

“Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the US, which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page. We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this. Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children.”

The company went on to advise anyone who has already purchased the dolls to discard the box or obscure the link in some fashion.

From Mattel’s language, you might assume it intends to recall the dolls. However, we found they were still on sale at Target and Kohl’s despite no longer being listed on the store websites. While scalpers might be snatching them up to resell, there’s a good chance you might still find them on store shelves if you act fast.
