After millions on the East Coast experienced Verizon Fios internet outages on Tuesday morning, the internet provider failed to provide an estimated restoral time. Verizon Fios is a fiber-optic internet, telephone, and television service provider by Verizon Communications.
According to Newsweek, many people reported Verizon Fios internet outages on November 12, with the network receiving thousands of customer complaints. In a new X (formerly Twitter) post, the company assured customers they would restore services as soon as possible.
Verizon responds to Fios customers having no internet
On November 12, Verizon Support responded to customer complaints about internet outages on X (formerly Twitter). The service provider responded to a customer’s complaint about a massive internet outage. They further confirmed getting several reports from the user’s area for service issues. Although the company couldn’t provide an estimated restoral time, they assured the customers of working on restoring the services.
As per Newsweek, reports of the outage increased between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. ET early Tuesday morning. Based on a map of user-reported issues on Downdetector, the outage spanned approximately 300 miles from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Richmond, Virginia. The outlet further reported that most of the complaints were about internet-related issues, followed by problems of “total blackout” and disruptions in TV streaming.
Earlier, Verizon Support posted a notice on X, assuming either an outage or network maintenance impacting the area. They were trying to gather information to provide users with an update. However, the service provider has yet to provide a restoral time.
The Verizon outage has left its customers anxious, as evidenced by their tweets. One user claimed that the service provider left all the “night owls” worried, confirming outages in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Meanwhile, others used the opportunity to trend memes about Verizon’s response to the massive outage.
