Here’s why Valerie Bertinelli and Mike Goodnough split

Valerie Bertinelli and Mike Goodnough reportedly broke up.

People Magazine was the first to report on this. However, neither Bertinelli nor Goodnough have confirmed their breakup publicly. Interestingly, the two also appear to still follow each other on Instagram.

Goodnough gave the outlet a secretive and evasive answer when asked about the split. “Valerie and I are the only two people with insight into our relationship,” he said. “Neither of us pays much attention to chatter among people outside of it.”

Bertinelli first confirmed her relationship with Goodnough in March 2024. The following month, Goodnough confirmed the relationship from his side via his Substack story titled “Rumors, Rumors, Rumors.” Ever since they confirmed their relationship, Bertinelli and Goodnough occasionally posted about it on social media.

Bertinelli also addressed how Goodnough helped her greatly in their relationship in a June 25 Instagram post. Here, the ex-Food Network host claimed Goodnough was “worth fighting the rest of my demons for.”

The reported former couple maintained a long-distance relationship. To help maintain the relationship, they also established a “three-week rule,” where they would not go three weeks without seeing each other. However, this proved to be challenging for Bertinelli.

Goodnough earlier addressed the challenge of their long-distance relationship in an Instagram post in May, opining that being far away from each other made their “time together that much more valuable.”
