Many are curious about Jason Kelce’s recent apology for his heated altercation with a fan. During the incident, a fan made inappropriate comments about his brother, Travis Kelce, and his relationship with Taylor Swift, which led to a confrontation. In response, Jason Kelce angrily grabbed and smashed the fan’s phone, an action he later expressed regret for.
Recently, Kelce took accountability for his actions and issued an apology, emphasizing his intent to handle future situations with greater restraint. Here’s what he said.
Jason Kelce apologised for smashing fan’s phone
On November 2, Kelce attended the Penn State vs. Ohio State football game. Before the game, he was walking near Beaver Stadium at Penn State University Park when a fan called out to him, yelling, “Kelce.”
The fan proceeded to make offensive remarks about his brother Travis and his relationship with the ‘Reputation’ singer. Specifically, the fan used a homophobic slur to insult Travis for dating Taylor Swift.
According to videos circulating online, Kelce reacted to the fan’s remarks by taking the man’s phone and smashing it. He then returned the phone and walked away. Recently, Kelce reflected on his reaction in an interview.
In a November 4 interview on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown, Kelce addressed the incident, expressing disappointment with his actions. “I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it,” he said. “In a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s productive.”
He acknowledged it was the wrong way to handle the situation and expressed regret for reacting poorly. “I try to live by the golden rule—it’s what I’ve always been taught—to treat people with common decency and respect. I’m going to keep doing that moving forward, even though I fell short this week,” he added.
