Tyra Banks’ walk for the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show marked an exhilarating comeback to the runway. Banks was one of the “OG” Victoria’s Secret Angels from 1997 to 2005 before her retirement, only to strut down the runway after 19 years for the much-awaited event.
The VSFS returned to New York City after a six-year-long hiatus, featuring some familiar faces on the runway. These included supermodel Adriana Lima, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Taylor Hill, Barbara Palvin, and Kate Moss.

OG Angel Tyra Banks’ runway comeback at the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is one of the most iconic moments in fashion history. Banks closed the show in a corset-style embellished black bustier with congruent patterns.
She sported a pair of tight pants with rhinestone detailings that glimmered in the flashing lights. Over the bodice that highlighted her curvy body, the model donned a full-sleeved silver cape, dragging behind her as she walked. On top of that, her dramatic hairstyle and concluding celebrations using the cape at the end of the runway stole the show.
Tyra Banks winked, smiled, and waved at the audience while walking the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway after nearly two decades. The 50-year-old triumphantly closed the show as the remaining models followed with confetti flying around them and fireworks in the sky.
Banks has walked nine VSFS runway shows with her final one in 2005. She has since ventured into other similar vocations such as creating “America’s Next Top Model.” The show premiered in 2003 before her retirement. She also hosted her chat show, “The Tyra Banks Show,” for six years.
In September, Tyra Banks told Harper’s Bazaar that Victoria’s Secret “had another contract on the table.” However, Banks claimed she was adamant about her decision to retire and to focus on becoming a talk show host. She recalled thinking to herself, “‘I need to be trusted for my words'” and at the time, believed people would not take her “‘seriously if I am still a model.'”
The mother-of-one, who has since achieved her dreams, believes the world has now evolved in a way that she can venture into any line of work. These include being a “businesswoman” or having “my ice cream company” and definitely being “a Victoria’s Secret model.”
