Does Sabrina Carpenter Write Her Own Songs?

Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter has recently been breaking records with her latest album, “Short n’ Sweet.” Her redefined success since she first starred in Disney’s “Girl Meets World” in 2014 is largely owing to this album and her first three singles, “Taste,” “Please Please Please,” and “Espresso.” Unsurprisingly, all three smash hits placed within the top 5 of Billboard’s Hot 100 in the same week. The only music artist to hit this milestone was The Beatles decades back in 1964.

With glory comes endless rumors, and so has been the case with Sabrina Carpenter’s album and her new songs. However, the singer-actress is all about dispelling certain speculations regarding her music, and she recently affirmed that she does write or co-writes her own songs.

Sabrina Carpenter sets the record straight on song-writing rumors

In a recent talk with “CBS News Sunday Morning,” Sabrina Carpenter said a “misperception” about her music is that she doesn’t write her own songs. She reasoned that just because she has a producer and co-writers she loves, people believe she had not written her songs. Carpenter, who is currently a rising artist in the music scene, wrote and co-wrote all her songs. In fact, the 25-year-old star recently graced the cover of TIME Magazine’s latest issue.

During the interview, Carpenter also discussed her childhood growing up as one of the four sisters. She said her parents and family “never told me to ‘stop singing'” — something she believes helped her psychologically. However, it took a lot of patience and a decade-long wait to go from posting singing videos on YouTube to topping the Billboard charts. In 2022, she released a personal album titled “Emails I Can’t Send, which helped to establish her career in the music industry.

Sabrina Carpenter also credited her mother, Elizabeth, for her growing music career, album “Short n’ Sweet,” and banger songs that tell her story. The pop singer says her mother is a “selfless” and “positive person” and helps her stay grounded. Moreover, she offers her daughter the best advice. Carpenter also weighs on her mom’s wise words to “not to take everything so seriously all the time,” claiming it has “been really helpful.”

The “Espresso” singer is currently on an international tour and has already completed eight shows.
