The Metro Nashville PD took to their official X (formerly Twitter) page to share a statement on the incident. The police gave a shoutout to Jon Bon Jovi and his team for coming to a woman’s aid on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge on Tuesday night. The statement shared that the singer “helped persuade” the woman “to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety.” Nashville Police Chief John Drake added, “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”

The video released by the Nashville police appears to have been taken from a street surveillance camera. It shows Jon Bon Jovi and a crew member calmly approaching the woman after spotting her standing on the bridge’s ledge. After a brief conversation, the two help her off the ledge and pull her to safety. The Bon Jovi frontman then continues to talk to the lady, and at one point, hugs her.

After the police released the video, it quickly became viral on social media. Moreover, several users praised the singer for helping the woman. A user wrote, “Jon Bon Jovi greatest rock star in the world and now [a] hero.” Another tweeted, “Thank you Jon, for being an incredible human being toward another soul that is suffering.”

Jon Bon Jovi, who started the JBJ Soul Foundation in 2006, has experience in helping people in times of crisis. According to the website, the foundation “has worked to break the cycle of hunger, poverty and homelessness.” This is done through partnerships, several programs, and by providing funding “to support innovative community benefit organizations.”
