If you thought the Jan. 6 hearings in Washington, D.C., had nothing to offer you, well, you haven’t been paying attention. While it’s true that much of the proceedings about the historic Capitol riot are about as entertaining as watching Florida residents examine ballots for hanging chads (2000 Bush-Gore election callback for the youngins), every once in a while, someone gets a zinger in. This time, it’s at the expense of Rudy Giuliani.

The latest headline-making quote comes from Jan. 6 Committee Vice-Chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.). Ahead of today’s testimony, Cheney shared a statement in which she revealed that former President Trump’s campaign advisers encouraged him to refrain from declaring victory on Election Day in 2016 because mail-in ballots still needed to be counted.

But not-so-wise man and former New York City Mayor Guiliani – who apparently had already indulged in one-too-many victory cocktails – urged him onward.

“President Trump rejected the advice of his campaign experts on Election Night, and instead followed the course recommended by an apparently inebriated Rudy Giuliani to just claim he won and insist the vote-counting stop, to falsely claim everything was fraudulent,” Cheney said. “He falsely told the American people the election was not legitimate. In his quotes, ‘a major fraud.’ Millions of Americans believed him.”

Former Trump aide Jason Miller also testified that Giuliani was “definitely intoxicated” on Election Night.

It’s no surprise to most that Giuliani is a massive creep who doesn’t deserve his law license, much less to have a voice in politics, but the fact that he was drunk enough for multiple people to testify about it kind of tells you how much of a loose cannon this guy is.

The phrase “an apparently inebriated Rudy Giuliani” immediately caught the attention of Twitter users and made Giuliani’s name go viral on the social media platform.
