Real-Life Peter Griffin Has Uncanny Resemblance, This Family Guy Will Really Grind Your Gears

While Homer Simpson is definitely the most memorable cartoon father in television history, Peter Griffin might be a close second. The pleasantly plump bespectacled dad from the long-running TV show Family Guy has a pretty unique look. If someone was to emulate the character in real life, it would be easy to make a similar costume, but it would take a real doppelganger to do it right. That’s why the internet fell in love with a man named Robert Franzese, also known as the “Real Life Peter Griffin.” And he has to be seen to be believed.

He’s been impersonating the titular Family Guy since New York’s Comic-Con in 2012 and the Long Island man’s look has become so well-known that it even got mentioned on an episode of the animated show. During the 17th season, in one scene, the show’s creator Seth MacFarlane explains that the characters aren’t real. Peter Griffin chimes in “Wait, what? Hang on a second, if I’m not real, then why does a fat nerd pretend to be me at every Comic-Con?”

While he’s dressed as other characters from movies and television over the years, it’s obvious his Peter Griffin cosplay is not only his best but the most popular by far. This has led to Franzese gaining a major following on social media, including more than 45,000 Instagram followers.

Like The Simpsons, Family Guy has been on the air for longer than many younger readers have even been alive and doesn’t seem to have any end in sight. Let’s hope Franzese continues his perfect imitation for just as long.
