We have some bad news for some of you folks that have some trouble keeping the pounds off: Thai Airways doesn’t want you flying with them. Well, at least not in business class.
According to the NY Post, fliers with a waistline of more than 56 inches “will not be able to fasten the new seatbelt airbags in a way that meets safety standards, according to vice president of Thai Airways safety, security and standards department Prathana Pattanasiri.” This being because the seatbelt can’t be extended because of the airbag mechanism.
So now passengers have a waist size limit. But heavy folks aren’t the only ones being screwed as the airline has also banned fliers from carrying infants on their laps. Sorry, moms.

And this isn’t the first time an airline has called out heavy fliers as let’s not forget that Hawaiian Airlines also took it upon themselves to weigh passengers before allowing them to board. But hey, if you’re not a fan of these airlines you can always fly United Airlines. Or, you know, just take your chances swimming to your destination because you would probably have a better time.
