Meet Matthew Ezekiel Stager.
According to The Washington Post, the 45-year-old sex offender was supposed to show up for a flight to a transitional center in Texas after being released from a federal prison in Petersburg, Virginia last week, but he raised a few eyebrows and then some when he failed to board the plane.
Yeah, that wasnât an optional flight.
After authorities from the U.S. Marshals Service for the Eastern District of Virginia couldnât find Stager on their own, they decided to reach out to the public yesterday for assistance in capturing the pervert, who was convicted in 1999 in North Carolina for indecent liberties with a minor and again in 2013 for failing to register as a sex offender.
Well, it didnât take too long for tips to start pouring in from the public in regards to Stagerâs whereabouts, and by the time the clock struck 2:40 p.m., Washington, D.C. police officers had arrested Stager in the 500 block of 4th St. NW, which ironically is very close to the Judiciary Square Metro station, D.C. Superior Court and D.C. police headquarters.
Weâll give you a few guesses as to how the public was able to identify Stager so quickly, but our hope is that youâll only need one after looking at his mugshot.
