Remember when The CW’s Smallville went out of the way to keep Tom Welling’s Clark Kent from flying or wearing the famous Superman costume? “No flights or tights.” But the first footage from Supergirl season 2 shows just how easily it could have been done years ago!
Entertainment Weekly has debuted an extended clip from the season 2 premiere of Supergirl, which features Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark Kent before he has to quickly pull open his shirt and leap into action as the Man of Steel. Although it is a little disappointing that Hoechlin’s Clark is still meek, he comes off well in costume as he reunites with Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl for the first time in this series.

While speaking to EW, Supergirl producer Andrew Kreisberg said “they haven’t really gotten a chance to spend time together, especially since she’s come out as Supergirl, and they both want that. Both of them have a bit of sadness about them — they both have that sense of feeling alone, they both have that sense of feeling different — and both of them remark that that loneliness, that alienation, that isolation goes away when they are together.”
The season 2 premiere of Supergirl on Monday, October 10 is also the first new episode produced for The CW, which is expected to bring it closer to The Flash, Arrow, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. We wouldn’t be too shocked if the season premiere of Supergirl also kicks off the Legion of Doom arc that will bring all four shows together.
