Buccaneers Wide Receiver Louis Murphy Got So Drunk At Wedding He Ended Up Locked Inside Museum

Going to a wedding at a museum sounds both exciting and romantic, even if that museum is in Florida. Waking up a few hours later spooning a Paul Wayland Bartlett statue and coming to the conclusion that everybody else has left the premises while you’re locked inside? Yeah, not so much.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, that’s pretty much what happened to Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Louis Murphy at his college teammate’s wedding last weekend.

Police said Murphy was attending Deonte Thompson’s wedding at the historic Flagler Museum in Palm Beach Friday night and admitted that he “had been drinking, went to the museum’s courtyard and fell asleep on the stairs.”

“When he woke up, everyone was gone, and the doors were locked,” police said.

Now past midnight on Saturday morning, Murphy felt his only option was to break the glass on one of the doors, unlock it and find a phone to call for help, so that’s exactly what he did. Police arrived at 1:12 a.m. to assist Murphy, but they didn’t arrest him because they felt he didn’t have many other choices at that point.

Murphy said he was working directly with the museum to pay for the repairs, which were reported to be around $1,000 or roughly seven ten-thousandths of his salary this year.
