When a fight broke out last week in a classroom at Santa Monica High School, of course someone shot a video of it on their cell phone. This was not a common scuffle between a couple of jealous teens over a girl, though, but rather a brawl between longtime teacher and wrestling coach Mark Black and a student who was allegedly using drugs.
Initially, this fight led to the suspension of Black and some choice words from the school’s superintendent about his behavior. However, over the weekend more information came to light, and support for the teacher has been flooding in from students and their families who believe Black’s takedown of the student was necessary to keep other students from harm.
We’ll obviously need more context regarding this video, but we do know that two students have now been arrested in connection with this classroom brawl and may face battery charges (latimes.com).
