Subtitles provide a great service, helping those of us who can’t hear the TV understand what the characters are saying to each other. They are even more helpful when nobody is talking and we want to get a feel for the atmosphere of a scene. That’s where the bracketed descriptive noises come into play. Some of these are real, most of them are not, but all of them are definitely awesome.
