Contrary to some online rumors, Marvel did not bring the first episode of Luke Cage to San Diego Comic-Con. However, they did the next best thing.
On the first day of Comic-Con, Marvel unveiled the first full trailer for Luke Cage, the upcoming series that will feature Mike Colter as the title character. Colter debuted his take on the character last year in Jessica Jones, but now Cage is stepping up for his first ever solo adventure in live-action.
Before Cage can become a “Hero for Hire,” he has to discover for himself what it means to be a hero…and if he even wants to be one. The trailer also features several demonstrations of Cage’s physical strength and his unbreakable skin.

Luke Cage is slated to hit Netflix on September 30. But Marvel didn’t stop there! The first teaser for Iron Fist was also unveiled for the Comic-Con crowd, as fans got their first glimpse of former Game of Thrones star Finn Jones as Danny Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist. The teaser was much shorter than the Luke Cage trailer, but it appeared to show K’un Lun, the mystical city where Danny learned how to harness the power of the Iron Fist…which he does, by the end of the teaser!
Finally, Marvel capped off the teasers with the first look at The Defenders, the eight-part miniseries that will unite Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist against a common threat.
Iron Fist and The Defenders are expected to debut in 2017.
