Pokemon Go UK has been officially released, with players in Britain finally able to begin their Poke Adventures without the help of a workaround.
Pokemon Go took a while to be officially released in the UK, with Nintendo and developers Niantic waiting it out in order to ensure that the game’s servers wouldn’t buckle under the weight of an influx of new players. As such, many impatient players found themselves altering their location on their smartphones and downloading the game from the US App Store, though now the game has been officially released in the UK thus eliminating the need for this workaround.
In order to download the game you must access either the iOS App Store or the Android Google Play store. If you previously downloaded the game using the workaround, you need to uninstall it if you want to receive automatic updates, before reinstalling it. As your game is either linked to your Google account or is paired with a Pokemon Trainer Club account, you won’t need to worry about your progress being deleted if you uninstall the game, as your save data is all safely stored on Nintendo’s end.
You can download Pokemon Go on iOS here, or on Android here.
