Sixty years ago, DC Comics ushered in the Silver Age of comic books when it introduced Barry Allen as the new Flash. Now The Flash is the harbinger of DC Universe: Rebirth and he’s out to solve the biggest mystery of his life: who stole ten years of his life?
Readers of the very first Rebirth one-shot already know who the mystery antagonist is, and now Barry Allen doesn’t feel guilty for shafting the universe because it wasn’t his fault! That case will continue in the pages of the new ongoing series for The Flash, as writer Joshua Williamson and artist Carmine Di Giandomenico shake up Barry Allen’s life by introducing a new speedster!
In CraveOnline’s exclusive preview for The Flash #1, Williamson and Di Giandomenico revisit the accident that gave Barry his powers while revealing that he wasn’t alone in those fateful moments after the incident. Could lightning strike once again? Well, the story is called “Lightning Strikes Twice,” so we’d say “yes!”
The primary cover was by Karl Kerschl, while the variant cover was by: Dave Johnson. Here’s DC’s solicitation text for the issue:
“A new storm brews over Central City and disproves the old adage about lightning never, well…you know. Just as Barry begins to feel overwhelmed fighting crime, a new speedster debuts—but just where did this amazing new friend come from?”
The Flash # 1 will be released this Wednesday, June 22 in comic shops everywhere.
