AJ Styles Defeats Daniel Bryan, Wins Intercontinental Championship

AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan both had their own visions for what a reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion might look like. After tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, however, it’ll just be Styles living out his dream, as he defeated Bryan to take the belt in an incredible match.

Styles walked away as the new Intercontinental Champion after a great match against Bryan. In the bout against both legendary superstars, Styles ended things by reversing a knee strike from Daniel and landing the Styles Clash. He followed that up by landing the Phenomenal Forearm, which led to a pin and the win for your brand new champion.

Bryan tries a backflip off the top but his knee gives out. Styles lands his backflip DDT. Styles floors Bryan with the Pelé kick. Brainbuster by Styles. Bryan kicks out. Styles sets up the Styles Clash. Bryan turns it into a pin. Styles attempts another Pele kick by Bryan catches Styles’ foot and locks in the ankle lock. Bryan turns the hold into a German suplex. Styles responds with a German suplex of his own. Bryan hits a German suplex with a bridge. Styles kicks out. Bryan traps Styles and lays in a few stiff elbows. Bryan transitions to the Yes Lock. Styles slowly drags them to the ropes to break the hold. Bryan stomps Styles’ face into the mat. Bryan calls for the Busaiku Knee. Styles reverses the knee strike into the Styles Clash! Styles lands the Phenomenal Forearm for the win.
