Normally when I mention a new viral sensation on the Crave Sports Channel it doesn’t involve a teen volleyball player from Kazakhstan. Today it does.
Sabina Altynbekova is only 17-years-old (And yes, I do feel a little uncomfortable writing about this because of her age. Is 17 legal in Kazakhstan or something?) and she’s been gaining international headlines because of the “distraction” she’s caused while playing for her under-19 volleyball team.
Even the athlete’s own coach says his team is increasingly about one player, at least as far as the fans are concerned. “It is impossible to work like this,” Nurlan Sadikov, coach of the nation’s under-19 team, told Tengrin News in a quote translated by the Daily Mail. “The crowd behaves like there is only one player at the championship.”
“Fans” across Asia are apparently losing their shiz over this 17-year-old… regardless of the fact she can play volleyball or not. Apparently she’s even been asked to model, however her parents are against it.
Her Youtube videos are gaining an insane amount of views as well. This one in particular has over a half-million in just one week.
