Zack Snyder Addresses Metropolis’ Destruction in Man of Steel

Arguably one of the most controversial parts of Man of Steel was how Superman’s fight with Zod destroyed Metropolis and resulted in what had to be mass deaths.

Director Zack Snyder has finally addressed that critique on Crave’s /Film website.

“I wanted the movie to have a mythological feeling. In ancient mythology, mass deaths are used to symbolize disasters. In other countries like Greece and Japan, myths were recounted through the generations, partly to answer unanswerable questions about death and violence. In America, we don’t have that legacy of ancient mythology. Superman is probably the closest we get. It’s a way of recounting the myth.” – Zack Snyder

This doesn’t exactly answer the question about why Kal El didn’t take the fight to a more remote part of Earth, but what do you think? Let us know on Crave’s Facebook page.
